North East India Tribal Tour 11Days

On arrival at Jorhat Airport, meet our representative and drive to Mon town, Nagaland. The drive takes around 5-6 hours.
Mon is home to the Konyak tribe, famous for their history of headhunting. The Konyaks
were one of the 12 headhunter tribes in
Nagaland, who practiced headhunting until 1935. As you enter Nagaland, the roads become bumpy, but the landscape transforms into scenic views of Nagaland tea gardens on both sides. Mon is known for its thatched-roof bamboo houses and fewer
concrete buildings. Upon arrival, check in at a lodge/hotel.

Today, we visit the Longwa village inhabited
by the Konyak tribe, located 42 km from Mon town. Upon arrival, we embark on a walking tour of the village. Our first stop is the Angh's (Chef) house, which lies on the
international border, with half the house in India and the other half in Myanmar (Burma). The house is decorated with tribal artifacts, including brass utensils, animal skulls, and ancient weapons. You can talk with the Angh and his family and enjoy friendly chit chat. Later you can walk around the village meet other tattooed Konyak warriors, a major attraction for those interested in tribal culture in Northeast India.
We also go for a hike around the village and enjoy the majestic landscape of Burma. You can also shop tradition jewellery and wooden sculpture in the roadside market. After exploring the village and observing the
villages closely return to Mon in the afternoon.

On the third day of our tribal tour, after
breakfast, drive back to Jorhat. Along the way, stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Upon
arrival, check in at a tea bungalow in Jorhat. Here, you can opt for a tea-tasting tour (available at an additional cost) and
experience the life of a tea planter in Assam.

After breakfast, drive to Nimati Ghat and take a ferry to Majuli Island, the largest river island in the world, located on the Brahmaputra River. The ferry ride takes around 1.5 hours. Upon arrival, check in at bamboo cottages. Later, visit the Mising community villages and observe their traditional weaving process.
You might also spot tribal women fishing in the nearby lakes. In the evening, enjoy bird watching and a scenic sunset over the
wetlands.

On day 5 of our Northeast India tour, wake up early to attend the morning prayer at Auniati Satra, the largest Vaishnavite monastery in Majuli. Then, visit Garmur Satra and Samaguri Satra. Samaguri Satra is famous for its mask- making tradition. The masks here are crafted using bamboo, cane, and clay, inspired by Hindu mythology. We will also explore the tiny delicate museum of Garmur Satra which preserve many artifacts and weapons during the time of Ahom Kingdom. In the afternoon, enjoy bird watching in the wetlands of Majuli or experience a majestic sunset.

Today morning after breakfast drive towards Lakhimpur and proceed to Ziro valley. It takes around 6 - 7 hrs (165 km) to reach Ziro valley from Majuli.
Ziro Valley in Arunachal Pradesh is a serene paradise known for its picturesque landscapes, lush rice fields, and traditional Apatani tribal culture. The Apatani women are renowned for their intricate facial tattoos, unique nose plugs, and vibrant traditional attire. The valley's tranquil ambiance, dotted with ancient villages and vibrant festivals, offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage, making it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and cultural explorers alike. On arrival at Ziro check-in at a resort/homestay.

Early morning after breakfast visit the home of Apatani tribes in their traditional form at Hong village and Bulla village. We meet the local people see the traditional houses made of bamboo and unique agriculture system of paddy cultivation with paddy-cum- pisciculture (fish farming) is practiced. End your day with a visit to Siikhe lake (Seeh lake) and a visit to the winery and test wine made from local fruits. If time permits you can also visit high altitude farm Tarin Fish farm.

After breakfast, you can visit the worlds
largest natural Shiva Linga at Siddeshwar Nath Temple in Ziro valley and drive to Tezpur. Tezpur is a charming town on the banks of the Brahmaputra River, which takes around 7 hours. Tezpur is known for its historical importance including the Mahabhairab Temple, Vairabi Temple, Agnigarh, cole park, Da Parbatia and Bamuni Hills etc..

Today early morning after breakfast proceed to Kaziranga which takes around 1.5 hrs(51 km). Kaziranga is one of the largest National Parks in India. It is not only the abode of Indian rhinoceros but various other animals and birds. The wide landscape of Kaziranga offers spellbound landscape. Kaziranga is famous for 'Big Five' animals - the Indian Rhinoceros, Royal Bengal Tiger, Asian Elephant, Wild water Buffalo and Swamp Deer. On arrival at Kaziranga check-in at a resort. In the afternoon enjoy jeep safari in the Northern/Eastern range of the park.

On the day 10th of the tour, encounter numerous wild animals closely. After
breakfast, we go for Jeep Safari in the Eastern range/Central range of the park and witness various wild animals especially wild elephants bathing and see large varieties of migratory birds. You can also opt to do Elephant Safari on the park on request.
In the afternoon we will visit Kaziranga Orchid Park and observe the large collection of orchids, cactus and bamboos available in Northeast reason. You can also enjoy
delicious authentic Assamese thali. Head
back to the resort in the evening and relax for the night.
Note: Safari is not available in Kaziranga
National park from May to September.

Today is the last day of our tour. We drive you to Guwahati/Jorhat and drop you at airport
for onward journey according to your schedule.
